New Menu formats!

In recent weeks we have been pursuing a sustainability direction with regards to our fish and shellfish supplies, and we felt that it was a good time to review our menu formats. Instead of providing a main Table d’Hote menu and a Set Winter menu together, we have streamlined it to just the one menu. We will highlight one starter, one maincourse and one dessert which will provide you with your Set Winter menu, at a price of £14.95 for a 3 course lunch in either restaurant, and  for a 3 course dinner £19.95 in St Monans or £25.00 in St Andrews throughout the winter months (1st October to 31st March).

We can now proudly say that all our fish and shellfish is sourced from sustainable fisheries, whether from designated areas of wild fish stocks, or by sustainable fishing methods such as scallop diving or lobster creeling, or by farming methods which adhere to strict RSPCA Freedom Farm standards. We have worked extremely hard with our suppliers to ensure that we take no part in the further degeneration of wild fish stocks.

Protect the Chagos Islands with a marine reserve

The Chagos archipelago is a very special and rare place – a relatively unpolluted and undisturbed part of the Indian Ocean, with its islands, reefs and waters still teeming with life. Protecting this area would be a major contribution by the UK to global marine biodiversity conservation.

The Chagos archipelago is home to the largest coral atoll in the world, and is the most biodiverse marine ecosystem under UK jurisdiction. The CEN urges the UK Government to declare the Chagos archipelago and waters, out to its 200 mile Environmental Preservation and Protection Zone, a full no-take marine reserve in which extractive activities such as fishing would be prohibited.

We encourage people to support the designation of the Chagos as the world’s largest protected area, and by doing so, help preserve one of the most unspoiled marine environments left on Earth.

Sign up to the 10:10 campaign. We have.

LogoSmall“10:10 is an ambitious project to unite every sector of British society behind one simple idea: that by working together we can achieve a 10% cut in the UK’s carbon emissions in 2010.

By signing up to a 10% target we’re not just supporting 10:10 – we’re making it happen. In our homes, in our workplaces, our schools and our hospitals, our galleries and rugby clubs and universities, we’ll be backing each other up as we take the first steps on the road to becoming a zero-carbon society. It’s easy to feel powerless in the face of a huge problem like climate change, but by uniting everyone behind immediate, effective and achievable action, 10:10 enables all of us to make a meaningful difference.”

Not only are we, at the Seafood Restaurants trying to reduce our carbon footprint, but also we are trying to reduce costs. A win:win situation!
